Ms. Fuster joined the Firm in January, 2008 for the practice of corporate and commercial law and real estate law.
Ms. Fuster’s practice in the Firm includes, among other matters, representing developers and purchasers in leasing and acquisition of commercial and residential real estate, including telecommunications facilities, contract drafting and negotiation and general corporate and business matters.
Prior to joining the Firm, Ms. Fuster held an appointment as Registrar of Property of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico from December, 2002 through December, 2007, where she was responsible for implementing the requirements of the Mortgage and Registry Act of Puerto Rico for the recordation of real estate and secured financing transactions in accordance with the Puerto Rico Civil Code, the Puerto Rico Notarial Act and other applicable laws.
Before December, 2002, Ms. Fuster was a partner in the Corporate Department of McConnell Valdés, which she joined as an associate in 1995 and became a partner in 2000. While at McConnell Valdés, Ms. Fuster’s main areas of practice were real estate law, corporate and commercial law and healthcare law. Her real estate practice focused mainly on the development of resort communities, including the structuring and negotiation of real estate acquisitions and the financing thereof. From 1993 to 1995, Ms. Fuster served as a law clerk for the Hon. José A. Andréu García, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico.
Ms. Fuster was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on January 23, 1969. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Georgetown University in 1990 and a law degree, cum laude, from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law in 1993, where she served as Associate Editor of the University of Puerto Rico Law Review.
Ms. Fuster is admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and is a licensed notary public in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. She is a member of the Puerto Rico Bar Association and the Puerto Rico Notaries Association. Ms. Fuster is fluent in English and Spanish and has a working knowledge of French, Italian and Portuguese.
